The Club of the Year Award is split into two categories (Category A and Category B) in all States except Tasmania. The split is according to your club affiliation band category and allows clubs to be recognised and celebrated for their contribution to the sailing community regardless of size. Category A Clubs are bands 1- 12 and Category B Clubs are bands 13- 22. The full criteria for each classification can be found here.
The judging criteria is centred around the Australian Sailing Strategic Pillars of GROW, SUPPORT, WIN and the six Strategic Foundations of:
- Future Focus
- Diversity and Inclusion
- Environmental sustainability
- Innovation
- Safety
- Partnerships
Criteria:
- Must be an Australian Sailing affiliated club
- Clubs to be rewarded for outstanding membership growth, participation growth, events, promotion, governance, innovative and/or new initiatives with regards to Australian Sailing’s Strategic Foundations.
Nominations open: 1 June 2026
Nominations close: 11:59pm AEST 3 August 2026

Nominations will first be judged for their relevant State Awards, with the winning nominations from the State Awards then put forward as nominees to the judging panel of the National Australian Sailing Awards.
